Everyone who drives a car is familiar to some extent with an oil change. In fact, most people are recommended to get their oil changed every 5,000 miles. The majority of people don’t change their own oil and instead, go get it done for them. It’s for this reason that the actual process of an oil change is a mystery to a lot of people.
In this article, we will be reviewing what happens during an oil change.
The first step of the process would be to take off the oil filter and drain the old oil out. This is going to be under the car and you’re going to want to wait until all of the old oil is gone before you move on. After your oil is drained you’re going to plug it back up and put a filter back on. The next step of the process involves moving back to the top of the car. Pop the hood and using a funnel you pour in the new oil. After the new oil is in your car, the final step is to check the oil level. You do this by taking out the dipstick, cleaning all of the oil from it, putting it back in and out one more time, and when you take it out you want to make sure that the oil goes up to the line.
